Shades: (rules in link); At 1st level, a master may allow her shades to manifest up to 10 minutes a day, using this duration in 1 minute increments. A shade manifests as a standard action, and may return to spiritual form as a swift action. At 4th level, manifesting is a move action for the shade, and at 13th level, the shade manifests as a swift action.
Beginning at 3rd level, a master's mana has improved enough to allow her shades to remain manifested indefinitely, but may only maintain one shade this way, though which shade is currently manifested may be changed at will. Shades beyond the continual servant(s) may temporarily manifest for up to 10 minutes a day each, used in 1 minute increments. At 9th level, she may maintain two of her shades simultaneously, and up to three of her shades at 15th level.
A slain shade will recover and be available for summoning 1 week after being slain, with full hit points and free of any negative conditions, outside of effects that remain after death.
A master may renegotiate a shade's contract for free if that shade has fulfilled their duty and are willing, or whenever she gains the ability to contract additional shades. Breaking an existing contract, or the contract of a slain shade, costs materials and reagents valued at 200gp per HD of the shade with said contract.
Commander's Insight: Beginning at 2nd level, a master gains a competence bonus (as shown on the chart above) on all checks made to rally troops, restore or improve morale, negotiate contracts, and to aid another with combat actions. A master may use the aid another to provide a bonus to attack rolls or armor class from a distance, up to short range (25ft + 5ft per 2 levels).
Command Seals (Sp): Regenerate at a rate of 1 per 5 days. Begin with a maximum limit of 3 seals, increasing by +1 at 7th and 14th levels. Can be spent as a swift action for the following effects. At 10th level, Seals regenerate at a rate of 1 per 3 days. At 20th level, a master may use a command seal effect once per day without actually consuming a command seal.
- Heal a single Shade for 3d8 HP, plus HP equal to your level. Healing improves by +2d8 HP at 5th, 9th, 13th, and 17th levels.
- Heal a single Shade as Restoration, becoming Greater Restoration at 9th level.
- Grant a single Shade bonus motes equal to 3 + their hit dice. These bonus motes may exceed the maximum pool of motes that Shade may possess, but fade after 1 minute.
- Grant a single Shade the effects of Haste for 1 round. +1 round every 4 levels.
- Teleport a single Shade to be adjacent to you, regardless of distance or plane they are currently on.
- Force a single Shade to obey your command regardless of their objections.
Two command seals may be spent as a full round action to resurrect a Shade that has been slain without needing to wait 1 week for the origin to repair.
Mystic Crest (Su/Sp): A special magical matrix similar to a Shade, but far weaker. These crests are worn by the Master, allowing them special abilities to support their chosen shades. A mystic crest may be changed with 1 hour of rest.
