• LOWER STAGE
  • A Lower Stage component is used for a single Liftoff or Orbital Insertion burn. You may cluster Lower Stages in pairs, using the average of their rolls, or in larger groups, using the worst roll for each Lower Stage used in the burn.
  • Lower Stage components must either Mass at least as much as everything else they are lifting, or clustered together until they Mass at least as much as everything they are lifting.
  • A Lower Stage Component can be invented as Reusable, but will weigh and cost an additional 1 Mass per 5 Mass worth of lift (A 12 Mass Reusable lower stage can only lift 10 Mass during its burn). In order to reuse a Lower Stage component, it must pass checks for Reentry and Landing; if either fails, the component is not reusable. If both succeed, the component is refueled and can be reused next turn. Mark the component with a R on your manifest if it's reusable!
  • FAIL! - In case of a Fail, you are having a bad problem and will not go to space today. If you were attempting a Launch, there is no ignition, and everything else may be reused. If you were attempting an Orbital Insertion, your flight will be suborbital; proceed immediately to Reentry.
  • BOOM! - In case of a Boom, all instances of this Lower Stage lose Reliability. The Lower Stage is destroyed, and so is the stage above it!
  • A Lower Stage that becomes damaged may NOT be jury-rigged, there's just no time to do that!
