NarrativeCausality

Narrative Causality works very differently in Left Beyond than it does in Tripocalypse: Namely, flashy NC is limited to YHWH and His Angels, and subtle NC such as probability shifting is generally limited to Christians.

Nonbelievers are more likely to have NC-dampening abilities, if any; skepticism and contrivedness-awareness can only be so much of a defense since YHWH has established His control over the world pretty thoroughly.

Divine narrative control tends to happen reactively rather than proactively, but there is no guarantee of this.

Of note, determining the workings of a Divine death sentence that is not passed by lightning or incineration, and finding a countermeasure, would in and of itself make for an excellent story; this mode of termination is referred to as "intercision" indicating that the soul was separated from the body (from "The Golden Compass", published a few years before the Rapture).

An unbeliever reaching the age of 100 (from birth rather than from conception, oddly enough) will die by intercision.

Attempted rape of a Glorified person will cause the perpetrator to die by intercision, then the body will be incinerated.

People directly committing heinous crimes such as rape or murder may, but are not guaranteed to, be put to death by lightning strike.

People successfully advocating for official symbolic protests against the New Jerusalem government, such as not sending representatives to a sanctioned feast, may, but are not guaranteed to, be put to death by lightning strike.

People winning a wrestling match against an Angel will find themselves crippled unless they are wearing specialized armor.

The mechanism by which intercision operates is not well understood; it seems to only ever happen to human nonbelievers, so conducting experiments is difficult. The heart stops, electrical brain activity ceases immediately, and neurochemical activity peters down to a halt within two minutes. Tree Of Life is publicly working for a cure as part of its aging prevention program.

Other forms of Divine intervention include calling storms, causing localized earthquakes (and subsequent droughts if the quake stoppers underground springs, given how shallow the water table is), and other natural disasters. Positive forms of Divine intervention include dismissing storms that threaten shipping, briefly negating the need to eat, drink or sleep, and answering prayers that require subtle NC to effect.

Empyreans (Angels) are known to pray for most NC effects, with a very high rate of success; their powers are otherwise passive, in that they are known to be immune to most weapons and toxic environments. Other than their crippling strike, they have the ability to induce sleep in people who are not trained against the effect.

Dysprosians (Demons) have not been seen in the field since the Glorious Appearing and are considered extinct.
