Backstory

Very obviously someone working very hard to keep her "real" identity a secret. Maybe she was secretly born the daughter of some overbearing rich parents. Maybe she was secretly born the son of some overbearing rich parents. Claims to be the best laser master this side of the mycelial network. Probably is. There aren't many ki users in the entertainment industry, and even fewer who specialize in laser magic.

What is laser magic? Laser magic is a Jedi art. The Jedi are an ancient order of ki users who push back the cosmic darkness of the universe and bringing light and safety to the people. Generations ago, the Photon Knights destroyed the Jedi, leaving scattered survivors among the stars. The Jedi religion was banned, and the survivors became known as laser masters, relying on their legal status as a protected parody to survive the Photon Knights' wrath. The Photon Knights themselves don't seem to mind Reef's highly public entertainment business, but it's a tossup as to whether one would attack her or ask for an autograph if they met her in person. One thing's for certain: It would look far worse if a Photon Knight were to challenge Reef and lose than to allow Reef to dance around with a laser sword on camera.

Reef is a simple woman when you get right down to it. She just wants to get a few bitches, stack a little paper, and have a little fun. Her success as a laser master enabled her to open {FRANCHISES TBD}, which she mostly leaves to her beleaguered managers. They're used to Reef disappearing for days or weeks at a time without any explanation. It's unclear how or when she got herself involved with a midichlorian cartel, but she seems to be on friendly terms with them.

At some point along the way, Reef was abducted by Stra-Khul's apprentice Mye Baris and given an offer she couldn't refuse: Join a search party to find the Gloryhammer, or sleep with the space fishes. After a brief fight that involved Reef taking a fall on the ceiling, she agreed to work for Mye. However, Reef seems more interested in partying than doing her job. Mye isn't saying what she saw in Reef, and no one else can figure out what the presence of a self-destructive smackhead brings to the mission. Maybe Mye saw through Reef's act, or maybe Mye was tipped off by the midichlorian cartel. It definitely wasn't a case of an umutorian recruiting a fellow umutorian, so get that out of your head right-

Latest revision concept: Basically a Star Wars Jedi in terms of overall power set

Even though she's not as strong as an elite Photon Knight, Reef is a surprisingly powerful ki user, especially for someone self-trained. Her training came from "alternative" sources (read: drug trips), and she has a largely mental ki focus as a result of being an innovator in the mind expansional sciences. However, her training as a dancer does give her some physical ki ability.

Reef gains {advantage} when she has the high ground. Opponent gains {advantage} against Reef when they have the high ground. No effect on reasonably level terrain.

Laser Sword Diplomacy

Reef is a galaxy-class dancer/laserswordswoman, with ki-enhanced speed, strength, stamina, and flip power.

A Luminous Being Am I

Very high drug tolerance in general, and can boost her resistance to drugs, poisons, and other such chemicals. Reef can also resist ki-based mental effects to a certain degree.

Jed-I've Got A Bad Feeling About This

Reef can detect the presence of hidden individuals, the use of ki around her, and even feel intent from others (hostile or otherwise). Sometimes, when tripping on midichlorians, she will even claim to hear others' thoughts. These overheard thoughts rarely if ever line up with what the individual in question reports they were thinking, but can you really trust someone when they say they aren't picturing Stra-Khul naked? Is Reef overselling her abilities, or is the galaxy simply full of secret perverts who don't want to admit their true thoughts? You be the judge.

A Certain Point Of View

This one's the most in flux.

Reef has the ability to connect to others through the Force, and therefore do mindfuckery to them. Some kind of vision quest bullshit? Or maybe some kind of illusion powers? Need to sort this one out still.

Ki-ck

Legends (told by Reef) say that Reef is able to kick someone without even making physical contact with them, through the power of ki. This has not been independently verified.

Drugs

Reef introduces several new drugs into the setting.

The specifics of these drugs are largely kept vague to keep the game from getting too real. However, midichlorians and LDS have lore significance that is not reflected on this page for spoiler reasons.

Glossary

Jedi

The Jedi are an ancient order of ki users that were destroyed by the Photon Knights. The word "Jedi" is now prohibited and their teachings are banned.

Laser magic

A term for the combination of lasers and ki-enhanced dance.

Laser master

Officially, a modern term for someone who uses laser magic. In reality, a term that allows surviving Jedi legal protection as parody of the Photon Knights.

Laser sword

Party mode is a big glow stick. Business mode is a thermal lance.
