POSSIBLE FLIPSIDE MISSION

The Flipside timeline indicates 93 years in.

The former tourist resort of El Alamein had its own water desalination facilities. A splinter faction of The Other Light calling itself The Brotherhood Of Nod (is that from a videogame?) has obtained control of the resort grounds, and reactivated the desalinator. TOL proper controls a refinery in nearby Sidi Abd el Rahman (Rahman for short); the two groups are teetering between all-out hostility and working out a stable oil-for-water deal. TOL in the region is commanded by one Hassan; NOD is run by a local would-be prophet who claims to be one of Adam's sons.

The winner of this feud is irrelevant to our purposes as long as the desalinator is kept functioning and at least some water can be exported to the rest of Egypt/Osaze. Given the world's depopulated state, the resort desalinator is sufficient to provide for approximately a fourth of the country's population if properly repaired; making God's water-embargo punishment on Egypt/Osaze less relevant to the population would be an excellent way to reduce His threat in the region.

Be warned: a former Tribulation Force missionary team is in the area. Their task is to remove TOL and other antitheist groups from power throughout Egypt/Osaze, with a promise that the Nile would flow once again if they are successful. They are known to believe that the end justifies the means, and their leaders have considerable charisma. Harming them directly would be extremely difficult.

The government in Egypt/Osaze is too fragmented to bring overwhelming force to bear; at present, sporadic oil and water tankers move on the road between Rahman and Alamein. This lifeline is vulnerable to sabotage and attacks, be it by raiders, Trib Force saboteurs, and other minor entities. Securing this road would represent a significant victory; provoking a major battle and winning it would further advance our goals of throwing a wrench in the gears.

A system of canals covering the wider Nile Delta still exists; if it were possible to operate both the refinery and the desalinator at maximum efficiency, and operate five floodgates in reverse (one needs repaired; three require demolition; one must be manned or automated), it would be possible to cause the great river to flow again, at least partially, in direct defiance of Divine command. This would greatly increase our margin of safety and can be considered a bonus objective.
