Flipside2YurisNightPOSSIBLE FLIPSIDE MISSION ![]() The Flipside timeline indicates 56 years in. The Italian mountain town of Viganella has survived the global flattening relatively unscathed, and about two dozen people have moved back there. Due to narrative causality and the fact that the town's main claim to fame used to be that for 83 days a year, no sunlight would strike the valley it sat in, it's one of the few places on the new Earth that still experience a proper night. The team must amplify the NC that allows this effect by disabling or destroying a mirror that was installed on the outskirts of town to reflect the sun into the central piazza, promoting stargazing, convincing the population to advertise this unique feature of their town rather than being ashamed of it, or all of the above. This year is the 100th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin's historic first spaceflight; Yuri's Night will happen on the very last evening of the night effect. At present, in the new world Russian contributions to the space race are barely taught, but it might be possible to rally what is left of the astronomy community for the occasion. There is an old ballistic missile silo in nearby Switzerland, but intel shows that it is haunted by psi imprints of the soldiers who protected it; the warheads are long gone, but repurposing a ballistic missile to take space photos would greatly help in disrupting the status quo. Of course, a ballistic missile is able to do great damage even without a nuclear warhead, if it lands precisely. |
