OverAndUnderThe Flipside timeline indicats 220 years in. ![]() This is a strange mission; you will have to team up with believers for at least part of it. How seriously you intend to take this alliance is up to you. Our psychohistorical recon team has heard rumors that "there is a faction within TOL that is even more radical than their mainstream. They believe that if they can somehow impregnate women with glorified bodies, they can create a super mongrel race of potential converts to their side who would be partially glorified and perhaps able to live past one hundred." This faction is supposedly run by one Barjack, who himself has managed to remain active past a hundred years by means unknown. Stories indicating that "He is more machine now than man" should be recognized as belonging to inherited pop culture, but we are not willing to exclude any possibilities. What we do know is that he has been practicing kidnapping and rape on an industrial scale in this region. Of note, Barjack and his minions have managed to kidnap glorified women and keep them in custody. While we share an ultimate goal with this person, it is clear that he must be found and stopped. Learning how he has managed to live past a hundred years would benefit TOL efforts greatly if his methods can be replicated within acceptable ethical boundaries; even if that is not possible, his research must be made public or at least obtained for our cause. A Children of the Tribulation team has been dispatched to deal with this threat and is still in the exploratory phase - Barjack's base of operations is rumored to be a metal fortress in the middle of the desert, a stone citadel, an underground labyrinth, a barge inside an underground lake, and all sort of fancy notions. This COT team has come across a few clues that allowed them to narrow down the search area; their investigation so far has consisted in copious amount of blundering, precious little acumen, and generous smatterings of Divine assistance. They intend to remove the threat, which we are willing to help with, and scatter Barjack's nefarious learnings to the wind, which we are not. Other than the obvious moral imperative to stop Barjack, it would be very beneficial to our plans if these designated heroes were overshadowed in this enterprise by a team of nonbelievers. As you may have surmised, this is where you come in. Worst case scenario, expect to have to put in as much effort into stealing the spotlight as you do solving the mystery and stopping the madman; a resolution that sees the COT team become martyrs is discouraged for public relations purpose. We have made contact with the local TOL cell and they are willing and able to assist on the media front and, if we play our cards right, to provide a diversionary attack once Barjack's base of operations has been located. The COT team have been looking for local help and are sufficiently out of touch with this region that you should be able to pass as it. Good hunting. |
